DPR Member Urges Ministry of Transportation to Revise Regulations After Ojol Commission Cuts

JAKARTA - A member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Sofwan Dedy Ardyanto, has urged the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to immediately revise regulations to follow up on President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment regarding plans to lower the commission rate charged by online motorcycle taxi (ojol) applications to below 10 per cent.

“Our struggle in Commission V together with our ojol colleagues has finally been heard by the President. The Ministry of Transportation must immediately follow up on the President’s directive by revising the Ministerial Regulation,” Sofwan said in his statement on Saturday (2/5/2026).

According to Sofwan, the momentum of May Day 2026 became a crucial point in the struggle of ojol drivers who have long demanded adjustments to the commission rates charged by application providers.

“I will proactively monitor whether the President’s directive is truly followed up. The indicator is simple, starting with the revision of the Ministerial Regulation,” he said.

Sofwan also reminded that the issue of ojol commission rates had previously received serious attention in parliament.

Several members of Commission V from the PDI-P Faction are claimed to have consistently pushed the government to regulate application policies, particularly regarding commission rates deemed burdensome for drivers.

Previously reported, President Prabowo took a firm stance on the burden of commissions charged by applications, which has long been a complaint from ojol drivers.

In his speech at the May Day 2026 event held at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday, Prabowo openly rejected the 20 per cent contribution scheme implemented by application companies.

“I say here, I do not agree with 10 per cent,” Prabowo stated.

“It must be below 10 per cent,” Prabowo continued, greeted by cheers from the crowd.
