DPR Member Urges Ministry of Transportation to Be Transparent on Green SM Taxi Evaluation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A member of Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Daniel Mutaqien, has urged the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to be transparent in the process of deepening and evaluating the operations of Green SM taxis, following the train accident in East Bekasi.
Daniel believes that openness is important to answer public questions regarding the initial cause of the incident, which is suspected to involve the taxi vehicle at a level crossing.
“The audit and investigation that are being conducted must proceed transparently and accountably,” said Daniel in a written statement on Tuesday (29/4/2026).
Daniel reminded that Kemenhub needs to take swift and comprehensive steps, not only evaluating the technical aspects of railways but also external parties suspected of triggering the incident.
“Therefore, further deepening is needed to ensure whether there are violations of operational standards that contributed to this incident,” Daniel added.
Furthermore, Daniel assessed that there are several irregularities that need to be noted, particularly regarding how the vehicle could be present and stopped in the railway crossing area, which should be sterile from public vehicle activity.
“This raises questions about the effectiveness of on-site supervision, as well as the level of compliance with traffic safety rules at level crossings,” said Daniel.
For that reason, Daniel also encouraged Kemenhub to evaluate all aspects of Green SM’s operations, including fleet worthiness, driver safety standards, and compliance with transportation regulations.
“This evaluation is important to ensure that all public transportation operators truly meet the established safety standards,” he concluded.
It was previously reported that Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya emphasised that Transport Minister (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi will also evaluate the Green SM taxi company, which is suspected to be the initial cause of the accident.
The government will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the railway safety system in the wake of the train accident between Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL in Bekasi, West Java.
“This includes the Transport Minister through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, who has stated that they will evaluate the Green SM taxi company,” said Teddy, quoted from Instagram @sekretariat.presiden, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
