DPR Member Urges ASEI Inclusion in National Export Grand Design
Member of DPR Commission VI, Christiany Eugenia Paruntu, has urged the government to immediately include PT Asuransi Asei Indonesia (ASEI) in the national export grand design as part of a strategy to strengthen Indonesia’s economic growth towards an 8 per cent target.
She stated that ASEI plays a strategic role in supporting the national trade ecosystem through protection and guarantee services for investors, banks, exporters, and MSMEs.
‘Global economic slowdown is directly pressuring national export performance, exacerbated by rising geopolitical uncertainties and international trade war risks that could disrupt global supply chains,’ Christiany said in a written statement on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
Indonesia therefore requires stronger and integrated export protection instruments to maintain competitiveness amid increasingly complex global economic dynamics.
She noted that the planned establishment of an export SOE under PT Danantara Strategi Indonesia (DSI) presents a strategic opportunity to strengthen synergy among state-owned enterprises, including ASEI, in supporting trade of Indonesia’s natural resource commodities.
‘The presence of export guarantee insurance is critical for securing trade of strategic commodities such as coal, crude palm oil (CPO), ferroalloy, and other natural resource products in global markets,’ she said.
Christiany emphasised that restructuring the national export insurance grand design would deliver significant added value for the country.
Beyond strengthening national trade protection, this synergy could also generate new dividend sources for SOEs through more professional, measurable, and internationally standardised trade risk management.
She also commended ASEI’s participation in OECD international cooperation.
She described this as a pivotal moment to enhance the governance standards and credibility of national export insurance institutions, enabling them to compete globally and navigate dynamic international trade regulations.
As a member of DPR Commission VI overseeing trade and SOEs, Christiany Eugenia Paruntu called on the government to swiftly strengthen integration of trade, financing, and export protection policies through collaboration between strategic agencies and state-owned enterprises.
