DPR Member Says TNI Must Clearly Explain Siaga 1 Readiness Status
Therefore I hope the TNI can communicate information more coherently so that the public obtains a complete explanation and does not give rise to various interpretations, Hasanuddin said in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to him, the readiness status within the TNI is essentially a standard mechanism of soldier readiness that can be applied for various purposes, including training and anticipating possible deployments.
As a retired senior military officer, he explained that the TNI recognises three levels of readiness: Siaga 3, Siaga 2, and Siaga 1.
Siaga 3 is a condition that is still relatively normal. In this state, unit activities proceed as normal without a particular concentration of troops.
Meanwhile, Siaga 2 indicates a higher level of readiness. Usually part of the forces is on stand-by, while others continue with routine activities.
Then, he explained that Siaga 1 is the highest level of readiness. In this state all troops have concentrated, weapon systems are prepared, and individual logistics have been prepared.
Generally, he said, soldiers prepare staple provisions and personnel logistics for about five to seven days so that the troops are ready to be moved at any time in accordance with command.
He emphasised that the implementation of the TNI readiness status does not require approval or consultation with the DPR, because the readiness status relates only to the level of soldier readiness.
However, if that readiness is to be used for war military operation (OMP) or non-war military operation (OMSP) these uses must obtain DPR approval in accordance with Law No. 3 of 2025 on Amendments to Law No. 34 of 2004 on the Indonesian National Armed Forces.
