DPR Member Says Legislation Has Advanced During Prabowo’s First Two Years
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Soedeson Tandra, a member of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), said legislative output during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration had shown substantial fundamental progress.
He cited the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), saying it had introduced a new legal paradigm.
“It has succeeded in changing the law from one that was retributive (punitive) to one based on restorative justice,” Soedeson said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He added that the government and the DPR had also passed the Employment Protection Law and the Domestic Workers Protection Law (UU PPRT).
Beyond legislation, he said the Prabowo administration had prioritised impartial law enforcement. Many alleged corruptors had been arrested, he said, from regents to officials at ministerial level.
“All of this is an achievement,” said the legislator, whose portfolio covers law enforcement.
He said the direction of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration over its first two years was on the right track. He pledged his full support for the President’s vision and mission, including the people-centred economy agenda aimed at improving welfare.
“If the system is not working properly in its implementation, let us work together to improve it,” he said.
