DPR Member Rizki Natakusumah: Attack on TNI Soldiers in Lebanon is a Grave Violation of International Law
Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Rizki Aulia Rahman Natakusumah, has strongly condemned the attack that injured three TNI soldiers who are members of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping contingent. He asserted that the act constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter, which must be investigated transparently and promptly.
“We certainly strongly condemn this attack. An assault on peacekeeping forces is completely unjustifiable,” Rizki stated to Parlementaria on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
This politician from the Democrat Party faction emphasised that Indonesia’s peacekeeping troops in Lebanon are present not to wage war or attack any party, but to ensure the security of civilians amid armed conflict.
According to Rizki, TNI soldiers have carried out the constitutional mandate in maintaining world peace. “Indonesia’s peacekeeping forces in Lebanon are there precisely to ensure there are no more civilian casualties from armed conflict. We extend our highest appreciation to our soldiers,” he stressed.
In response to the escalation of such attacks, Rizki urged the UN Security Council to take immediate firm action. He demanded a transparent and comprehensive investigation into the incident.
“Now is the time for the UN Security Council to demonstrate firmness. Hopefully, a thorough and transparent investigation can take place. We offer our deepest condolences and pray for strength to the bereaved families,” concluded the legislator from the Banten I electoral district.
