DPR member raises concerns over national tourism management coordination
Jakarta (ANTARA) - DPR Commission VII member Novita Hardini has raised concerns about suboptimal cross-sectoral coordination in national tourism destination management, which has hindered Indonesia’s tourism management. According to Novita, the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) should act as a communication bridge to address sectoral egos in national tourism destination management. “The Ministry of Tourism must be able to serve as a communicator aimed at increasing the number of tourists in each region,” Novita said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday. Following a working visit by DPR Commission VII to Klaten Regency, Central Java last week, Novita noted several issues regarding national tourism destination management. She explained that substantive communication forums between Kemenpar, local governments, and tourism managers remain scarce. This, she said, is one of the obstacles to optimising Indonesia’s tourism management. Novita stressed that Kemenpar’s role is crucial in addressing sectoral egos prevalent across regions. “There are several points we wish to emphasise regarding the government’s role, specifically the Ministry of Tourism, to resolve this sectoral ego issue,” she said. She assessed that Kemenpar must act as the primary communicator to bridge the aspirations and needs of the tourism sector in the regions. With strong coordination, she said, all parties can perform their roles to the fullest in supporting increased tourist numbers and the development of national tourism destinations. The East Java 7th electoral district politician noted that strengthening communication and coordination among stakeholders is key to ensuring Indonesia’s tourism management operates more integrated and effectively. “Synergy between the central government, local governments, and tourism managers is crucial to creating sustainable tourism management,” Novita said.
