DPR Member: Public Entitled to Know About MBG Motorcycle Procurement
A member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa, has highlighted the urgency of an explanation from the National Nutrition Agency regarding the basis for procuring 21,000 electric motorcycles for the operational needs of the free nutritious meals or MBG programme. The politician from the National Awakening Party stated that transparency is not just about opening data, but ensuring that the public understands the rational reasons behind government decisions.
“The public has the right to know the origins of the procurement, its purpose, and the source of funding. To obtain complete and accurate information, confirmation with the BGN is the right step to clarify the chronology,” said Neng Eem in a written statement quoted on Friday, 10 April 2026.
Neng Eem reminded that public oversight is crucial to prevent the misuse of the super-sized MBG budget. Therefore, the BGN must have a thorough plan that is communicated openly to the public to anticipate public distrust while ensuring the programme runs as intended.
According to Neng Eem, President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship nutrition fulfilment programme needs to be monitored to avoid negative spotlight that erodes its credibility and quality. Therefore, she encourages the BGN to clearly explain the urgency of the MBG motorcycle procurement to stem public speculation.
“Do not let prolonged polemics arise due to a lack of openness. Every rupiah allocated in the MBG programme must be accounted for transparently before the public,” said the legislator from West Java.
Commission IX of the DPR has scheduled a meeting with the BGN on Monday next week to ascertain the facts of this matter. The MBG motorcycle procurement has drawn criticism from the public amid President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions for savings.
Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana stated that the procurement of 21,000 motorcycles for MBG operations was carried out from the 2025 budget. He said the two-wheeled vehicles would be distributed to heads of nutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG), especially in hard-to-reach areas.
Dadan claimed that the budget allocated to purchase one motorcycle unit is Rp42 million. According to him, the price of the electric motorcycle is below the market price of Rp52 million.
