A member of Commission I of the House of Representatives from Marwan Jafar has proposed that the National Police Headquarters intervene to handle the sexual violence case at the Yayasan Ndholo Kusuma Islamic Boarding School in Pati, Central Java. This politician from the National Awakening Party urges the police to dismantle the multi-layered criminal practices of the perpetrator, who is suspected of deception by claiming to be a saint and a descendant of the Prophet to exploit female students.

“We request that the National Police Headquarters handle the sexual crime case committed by a shaman disguised as a kyai in Pati. This is important so that the legal process runs quickly, without favouritism, and meets the expectations of the wider public,” said Marwan Jafar in a written statement quoted on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

According to this legislator from Pati, the suspect with initials AS, who has been designated as such, cannot be tolerated. Moreover, he has uncovered a pattern of systematic intimidation against underage victims, threatening expulsion from the boarding school if they refuse the perpetrator’s demands.

Given the significant harm suffered by the victims, Marwan urges that the legal process be promptly completed to the P21 stage (complete) for submission to the court. He also demands that the government provide ongoing trauma counselling for the students to restore their psychological condition.

“This crime must not have any loophole for forgiveness. The perpetrator must be given a heavy sentence for the crimes of sexual assault, fraud, and exploitation of the faithful,” he stated.

Marwan continued that, based on information he received, the alleged perpetrator is suspected of lacking the ability to recite the Quran, and his religious knowledge is highly doubted by local residents. Thus, the perpetrator’s actions are deemed to have tarnished the good name of pesantren institutions, the honour of kyai, and educators in general.

“The information we have obtained indicates that the perpetrator is even said to be unable to recite. His actions not only destroy the future of our youth but also damage the image of pesantren and kyai, which have long been pillars of national character education,” said Marwan.

Previously, hundreds of people from the Pati Santri Alliance for Democracy stormed the Ndholo Kusumo Islamic Boarding School in Tlogosari Village, Tlogowungu Subdistrict, Pati Regency, on Saturday, 2 May 2026. This action was the peak of public anger over allegations of sexual harassment by the boarding school supervisor against dozens of his female students.

The alleged sexual violence involving a boarding school supervisor in Tlogowungu Subdistrict, Pati Regency, went viral on social media after the Pati City Police Resort elevated the case to the investigation stage.

Polresta Pati has designated the boarding school supervisor with initials AS as a suspect. The number of victims is said to reach 50 people. The incidents are suspected to have occurred from 2020 to 2026.

The Head of Polresta Pati, Commissioner of Police Jaka Wahyudi, said that AS failed to attend the scheduled examination on Monday, 4 May 2026. “The suspect failed to appear and was not present for the examination,” said the Head of the Pati City Police Resort, Commissioner of Police Jaka Wahyudi, on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
