DPR Member Proposes Government Appoint Single Body to Integrate Data Under President
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of the House of Representatives Commission II, Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung, has proposed that the government appoint a single body or ministry responsible for integrating data under the President of the Republic of Indonesia. The proposal was made during discussions on the Single Data Indonesia Bill (RUU Satu Data Indonesia). Currently, data integration is scattered across various ministries, from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, to the Ministry of Agriculture. “It should be integrated. Then, an agreed-upon single body or institution, whether a ministry, should be appointed as the data guardian directly responsible to the President,” said Doli, at the Nusantara II Building, Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026). Meanwhile, according to existing Presidential Regulations (Perpres), data orchestration tasks are handled by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). “Because Bappenas now has a director handling Single Data Indonesia matters. In fact, there is an executive director for the Single Data Indonesia body. I am one of the people pushing for the emergence of the Single Data Indonesia Law, which should be a momentum for us to integrate all existing data,” Doli stated. On the other hand, he does not rule out the possibility that the government and the House of Representatives could establish a new body specifically to manage data. Classification includes general data and special data, as well as open data and data accessible only for specific needs. “It’s possible. It’s possible (to form a new body), that’s what we’re studying. Whether a new body is needed, and whether it should be attached to an existing ministry or institution,” Doli explained. His side is still continuing to hear public and institutional aspirations through meetings. “Whether we can indeed integrate using omnibus law methodology or, for example, this codification also becomes a study for us,” Doli added.
