DPR Member Present During Attorney General's Search of Siti Nurbaya's Home
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has revealed that a DPR RI member for the 2024-2029 period was present at the home of former Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar during an investigative search.
Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, identified the DPR member as Ananda Tohpati from the NasDem Party faction.
“Yes, that is correct. The person in question (Ananda Tohpati) was at the residence of the aforementioned individual, SN (Siti Nurbaya),” he stated at a press conference on Monday, 2 March.
Ananda is the son of Siti Nurbaya and ran in the 2024 Legislative Elections from West Java electoral district III.
Syarief stated that investigators have questioned more than 30 witnesses in total in the alleged corruption case concerning palm oil plantation and industry management.
However, he acknowledged that Siti Nurbaya has not yet been scheduled for questioning. Syarief explained that investigators first need to examine the evidence seized during the search.
“Not yet scheduled, as we are currently examining a great deal of evidence, including electronic evidence that we seized,” he said.
The Attorney General’s Office previously disclosed that it had conducted a search at the home of former Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya.
Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi stated that the search was related to an alleged corruption case concerning palm oil plantation and industry management.
“It is true that a search did take place some time ago at several locations. One of them may have been at the residence mentioned,” he told reporters on Friday, 30 January.
“Is this about mining management? It is not. This is an investigation into palm oil plantation and industry management,” he added.
Syarief explained that the searches were conducted by investigators on Wednesday, 28 January and Thursday, 29 January. He stated that at least six locations were searched in the Jakarta and Bogor areas.
