Member of the House of Representatives Commission III, Soedeson Tandra, has expressed appreciation to the Indonesian National Police (Polri), particularly the Head of the Traffic Corps and its ranks, for responding to the implementation of the 2026 mudik, which proceeded smoothly. He welcomed the decline in accident rates during this mudik period.

“Yes, first of all, we certainly give our appreciation and the highest recognition to the Chief of Police and also the Head of the Traffic Corps, who have worked hard so that accident rates have decreased,” Tandra told reporters on Monday (30/3/2026).

Tandra hopes that this moment can be continuously maintained by Polri. He also expressed appreciation to all the ranks of Provincial Police Chiefs.

“Of course, we ask that this achievement be maintained and even improved. So that year by year, accident rates continue to decline. And also, we give recognition to the Provincial Police Chiefs throughout Java,” Tandra stated.

“The East Java Provincial Police Chief, Banten Provincial Police Chief, Central Java Provincial Police Chief, the one in Yogyakarta. We give recognition to our Polri colleagues who have worked hard,” he added.

He highlighted the density of homecomers that occurred at Gilimanuk. Tandra said there must be cross-sectoral coordination to address similar incidents.

“Well, this is certainly a task that requires cross-sectoral coordination. So that there are no more queues. This year, the queues were also from the Bali Provincial Police Chief. The queues this year at Gilimanuk were indeed long, coinciding with Nyepi and Lebaran,” he said.

He hopes that similar incidents can be anticipated in the future. “So, Muslim friends in Bali left before Nyepi. That caused the queues. Please anticipate this,” he said.

Previously, the Head of the Polri Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus, stated that the Eid al-Fitr mudik and return flows in 2026 were under control. Data from the Polri Traffic Corps shows no prominent incidents during this year’s Eid al-Fitr mudik period.

“To all colleagues, the mudik flow and return flow, along with the series of Eid al-Fitr activities, were sufficiently controlled, from the aspects of security and public order, with no prominent incidents,” Inspector General Agus said at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Center in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday (30/3/2026).

Inspector General Agus explained that during Eid 2026, Polri carried out Operation Ketupat, followed by Enhanced Routine Activities. He said the mudik flow could be managed well despite a temporary increase in vehicle volume.

“The mudik flow has proceeded well even though there was a quite high increase in traffic, but we could manage the mudik flow well,” he stated.

Inspector General Agus also said that accident rates during the 2026 Eid mudik period had decreased. A similar decline occurred in fatality rates during this year’s Eid mudik season.
