DPR Member Hopes 'One Data Indonesia' System Prioritises the People
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sofwan Dedy Ardyanto, a member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), expressed his hope that the ‘One Data Indonesia’ (SDI) system will side with the people.
He assessed that the success of One Data Indonesia must be measurable by its impact on society. “Integrated data must be able to improve the accuracy of various government programmes, especially social assistance, education, health, poverty alleviation, and the empowerment of MSMEs,” Sofwan stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In this way, he emphasised that data should guide policy, which in turn should deliver welfare rooted in human dignity.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of a national data governance system that is integrated, accurate, up-to-date, secure, accountable, and accessible and shareable by stakeholders in accordance with regulations. According to Sofwan, strengthening such governance requires an institution with clear authority.
Therefore, he supports strengthening the role of the One Data Indonesia organiser in the form of a body, agency, or institution responsible to the President. “Such an institution is deemed essential to ensure that the functions of coordination, standardisation, integration, and data security can operate effectively across all levels of government,” he said.
On the other hand, he hoped that national data integration would not sacrifice the rights of the community, particularly the right to personal data protection. He noted that the One Data Indonesia system must be built with strong security standards to prevent leaks, misuse, or unauthorised access to public data.
“The standardisation of One Data Indonesia must not diminish the universal principles of human rights guaranteed by the constitution, and must realise a standardised data security system to prevent data leaks and misuse,” said Sofwan.
Consequently, he desires that the formation of One Data Indonesia will not only produce an integrated national data system but also serve as an instrument to ensure that every rupiah of the state budget truly provides benefits to the people.
The 9th Plenary Session of the DPR RI for the first session of the 2026-2027 period has approved the Bill on One Data Indonesia to be enacted into Law.
“We ask each faction whether the One Data Indonesia Bill can be approved to be enacted into law?” asked the Speaker of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, which was subsequently approved by the meeting participants.
Before the Bill was approved, the Deputy Chairman of the DPR Legislative Body (Baleg), Sturman Panjaitan, stated that the drafting of the One Data Indonesia Bill was based on the constitutional mandate to protect all Indonesian citizens. According to him, data accuracy is vital for creating justice. The DPR Legislative Body believes that high-quality data is the foundation for precise, transparent, and accountable public policy.
