DPR member hands over free ambulances to residents for Independence Day

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of House Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Novita Hardini handed over two humanitarian ambulances to residents of Trenggalek Regency, East Java, on Monday, during the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, to strengthen health services in the region.

The two ambulances were given to IST and Ambulans Sigaling to support free public services.

In a statement received in Jakarta, Novita said the assistance was a form of mutual cooperation to ensure that the public continues to have access to health services, particularly amid the limited fleet of the regional government.

“We proactively sought out this aspiration. Health services must remain excellent so that the public’s rights are fulfilled. We are providing ambulances as a form of mutual cooperation in the development of Trenggalek Regency,” she said.

This is the second time Novita has handed over humanitarian assistance to Trenggalek residents. The first was on 9 March 2026.

According to the politician from the Trenggalek electoral district, the need for ambulances at the community level remains quite high. Moreover, amid efficiency policies, the regional government’s ability to expand its social service fleet also faces limitations.

She noted that the ambulance previously provided is now actively serving the public. Therefore, she has again added to the fleet to expand the reach of services.

“The ambulance I previously provided is already operating and travelling around serving the public. Alhamdulillah, it turns out it is indeed very much needed, especially at the grassroots level,” she said.

Novita expressed hope that the presence of these ambulances can help the public receive assistance and access to health facilities more quickly.

She also emphasised that the ambulance service is intended for the public free of charge, so residents need not worry when they require transport to a hospital or the nearest health facility.

“My hope is that the public can be handled as well as possible and not be late in being taken to the nearest hospital. The public also need not worry because these ambulances are free,” she said.

For Novita, the assistance is not merely the handover of vehicles, but rather an effort to provide fast, free humanitarian services that are close to the community.

“This is mutual cooperation. When the public is in need, we must be present and ensure that no resident is late in receiving help,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sigaling volunteer Kuncahyo expressed gratitude for the assistance. He said that until now, volunteers have had to operate ambulances in less than roadworthy conditions.

According to him, the assistance will strengthen the humanitarian services that volunteers have been providing.

“We are very grateful and thankful. Allah has entrusted Ibu Novita to donate these ambulance units for use by the public,” he said.

Kuncahyo said the operation of the ambulances will be coordinated with the Trenggalek Regency Health Office. The public will be able to access the service through a prepared hotline number, including through the Novita Center service.
