DPR Member Gus Hilman's Car Crash Kills Two Staff on Paspro Toll Road; Driver Fatigue Suspected
Head of Probolinggo City Traffic Police Enforcement Unit, Inspector Muhammad Taufik Rahadian stated that the cause of the car crash involving House of Representatives member Muhammad Hilman Mufidi (Gus Hilman) is suspected to be driver fatigue. ‘We have conducted a crime scene investigation. The Innova driver is suspected of being drowsy and not paying attention to the vehicle ahead,’ Taufik said in a phone interview from Probolinggo City on Sunday. He explained that the Innova, driven by Mahrus Ali, was carrying three passengers: Gus Hilman, Alex Anwaruh, and Adinda Najwa. The vehicle was travelling from Probolinggo to Pasuruan, or east to west. ‘The Innova driver was inattentive or drowsy while driving, causing the vehicle to lose control and collide with the rear right side of a dump truck moving in the left lane ahead,’ he added. The severe impact in the left lane caused significant front-end damage to Gus Hilman’s vehicle, killing two passengers. When asked about suspect designation in the fatal crash, Taufik said Probolinggo City Traffic Police have not yet named any suspects as investigations are ongoing. Previously, a vehicle belonging to House of Representatives member Gus Hilman crashed on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road at KM 834 in Posangit Lor village, Wonomerto subdistrict, on Saturday afternoon, 23 May, killing two people at the scene. The two deceased victims were Alex Anwaruh (25) and Adinda Najwa (26), who were Gus Hilman’s staff members. The bodies of the two victims have been transported to a funeral home in Tangerang and accepted by their families for burial. Meanwhile, Gus Hilman, who sustained injuries, underwent surgery and intensive care at Dr Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya and is currently reported to have passed the critical phase.
