DPR Member: Cybersecurity Bill Ready for Public Testing to Gather Input

A public consultation will be conducted. This public trial will be carried out partially by members of the DPR alongside the government to request and absorb input from various groups or elements of society.

Syamsu Rizal Marzuki Ibrahim, a member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), stated that the Draft Law on Cyber Security and Resilience (RUU KKS) is ready for public testing to absorb feedback from various sectors of society.

“There will be a public trial. This public trial will be conducted partially by DPR members together with the government to request or absorb input from various groups or elements of society,” said Syamsu Rizal Marzuki Ibrahim, popularly known as Deng Ical, in Jakarta on Monday.

According to Ical, prior to the public consultation, every member of Commission I of the DPR RI is preparing reviews and notes regarding the materials of the RUU KKS, which are continuously updated through discussions with the government.

“It is being updated almost constantly as we interact with colleagues in the DPR and the assigned ministries, and we want to continue refining it,” he said.

“We have met with several experts to synchronise our efforts, and it has been conveyed that we are no longer merely anticipating war, but are already in a state of digital warfare,” he added.

Consequently, Ical hopes that the discussions on the RUU KKS can be completed promptly so that Indonesia possesses an adequate legal foundation to face threats in cyberspace.

“We hope for comprehensive input from the public so that this law can provide stronger protection,” he said.

Currently, the RUU KKS is still being discussed by Commission I of the DPR RI through a series of meetings. For instance, on 30 June 2026, the commission held a public hearing with experts Pratama Persada from CISSReC and Ardi Sutedja from Indonesia Cyber Services to obtain input regarding the draft law.
