Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VI, Kawendra Lukistian, has called on the government to take firm action against Green SM or the “green taxi” company following a train accident in Bekasi, West Java, which resulted in more than a dozen fatalities.

He suspects that the taxi vehicle involved was the initial trigger for the chain of collisions. The long journey of transforming rail services, according to him, should not be tarnished by negligence from external parties.

“This is not just a single incident; it has stopped at railway crossings several times and there have been many public complaints about this taxi,” said Kawendra in Jakarta on Wednesday.

As a user of rail services in the Jabodetabek area from 2006 to 2010, he claims to have witnessed how long and difficult the transformation carried out by PT KAI has been until it became what it is today.

“It would not be excessive if we ask the government to evaluate and revoke the operational permit of that Vietnamese taxi company,” he said.

On the other hand, he also expressed deep condolences for the incident. The tragedy, he said, truly breaks the hearts of the public.

“Insyaallah, may the victims be granted a good end and those injured be given strength,” he said.

Metro Jaya Police stated that the victims of the collision between the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and KRL Commuter Line trains, which occurred at Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, on Monday (27/4) night, numbered 15 people.

“10 bodies at RS Polri, 3 bodies at RSUD Bekasi, one body at RSU Bella, one body at RS Mitra Keluarga,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4).

For the injured victims, there were 76 people, but Budi has not detailed the types of injuries suffered by the victims.
