The determination of the national education budget and its details was the result of deliberations jointly between the Government and all factions in the DPR RI. It is not correct that there is a narrative implying that only one party makes the decisions.

In Jakarta, Member of Commission III of the DPR RI, Muhammad Rahul, urged that no one should construct a misleading narrative about the MBG programme budget, as the budget decisions have been agreed by all political party factions in the DPR RI Plenary Session.

He said that allegations of cuts to education funding to finance the MBG programme are unfounded. According to him, the preparation of the national budget (APBN), including allocations for education as well as the MBG programme, is made collectively between the Government and all factions in the DPR RI.

“The determination of the national education budget and its details is the result of deliberations between the Government and all DPR RI factions. It is not correct to say that only one party makes the decisions,” Rahul said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He stated that MBG is a policy of President Prabowo Subianto aimed at strengthening the nutrition intake of Indonesian children as part of long-term investments in human resource development.

He added that the polemic over MBG budget should not be spun into a political issue that could unsettle the public. The focus should be on ensuring the programme is targeted, transparent, and genuinely beneficial for Indonesian children.

“If this programme serves the people’s interests, let us monitor it together. Do not build narratives that sow doubt among the public regarding a programme for the nation’s generation,” he said.

He also emphasised that MBG implementation is expected to involve local business actors so that it can have a direct impact on the regional economy. He pledged to safeguard the accuracy of public information and ensure that state policies remain aligned with the people’s interests.
