DPR Member Atalia Reveals Condition of Abuse Victim Held Captive by Boyfriend in Bandung

Member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR), Atalia Praratya, has revealed the condition of YTR (29), a victim of confinement and abuse by her boyfriend Taufik Hidayat in Bandung Regency, West Java. Atalia stated that she visited the victim and felt deeply saddened by her state. According to her, the victim’s facial structure is severely damaged and she has lost her eyesight. “The victim’s facial structure is heavily damaged, she has lost her vision, and suffered serious injuries due to brutal violence during three years of confinement,” Atalia said when contacted on Wednesday (23/6). Despite this, Atalia noted that the victim remains determined to recover. She said the victim wishes to be able to see again. Therefore, Atalia emphasised the importance of the state’s presence in this case for the victim’s recovery. “The main focus now is ensuring the state is fully present in the recovery process,” she stated. The Golkar Party politician urged law enforcement to apply multiple criminal charges against the perpetrator, who is still at large, not only for the abuse but also for deprivation of liberty. “I urge law enforcement officials to apply the heaviest layered articles in the Criminal Code, both for severe abuse and deprivation of a person’s liberty,” she said. YTR was allegedly abused and confined by her boyfriend Taufik Hidayat for three years in a rented room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency, West Java. The 29-year-old woman suffered severe injuries, including loss of normal vision, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk. The alleged abuse case was reported by the victim’s family to the West Java Regional Police on Friday, 12 June 2026. The victim’s sister, Melanie Silviani, said the victim is currently receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.
