Medan (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) member Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tandjung has stated that violence against children, such as sexual abuse, constitutes a national threat because it frequently occurs in various regions across Indonesia. “As far as I know, this criminal act of child molestation is very prevalent in Indonesia, making it a national threat to children,” Ahmad Doli said in Tanjungbalai on Sunday. He said cases of violence against children must be a shared concern because they will impact the child’s growth and development. “The crime of child molestation is a common enemy. To save children as victims who can suffer physical and psychological damage, it must be fought,” he said. Ahmad Doli, who previously visited a victim of child abuse in Tanjungbalai, stated that the case has the government’s attention. He said he would coordinate with policymakers to ensure the handling of the abuse case proceeds optimally. “Even though the suspect has not yet admitted his actions, I demand the investigators’ ability to resolve this case professionally. There must be no cover-up or protection. It must be resolved completely and transparently, including revealing the involvement of the suspect’s wife in the incident,” he stated. Furthermore, he urged the local city government to also move quickly in handling the recovery and education of the victim. “If any of you, the residents of Tanjungbalai, have a child who is a victim of molestation, please report it immediately. Do not be afraid,” he said. Meanwhile, the Tanjungbalai City Government has affirmed its commitment to handling the alleged molestation case that went viral in the community, involving a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) official with the initials ‘AIK’. Regional Inspectorate Head Indra said the local government will impose sanctions if a civil servant violates the applicable regulations. “Of course, in this matter, we from the Inspectorate will first adjust to the results from the Education Office. The Education Office must handle and clarify the issues that have occurred,” he said.
