Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission X, Ahmad Dhani, has emphasised the importance of accelerating the realisation of the People’s Schools programme as a strategic solution to guarantee the right to education for children from underprivileged families in Indonesia.

When met at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Jakarta on Thursday, Ahmad Dhani expressed full support for the programme to be implemented widely as soon as possible to reach children who have previously struggled to access quality education.

“Yes, it must be realised as soon as possible, because it is extremely important,” said the musician and legislator who handles education matters.

The programme promotes an integrated poverty alleviation concept by incorporating various flagship services, such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Free Health Checks (CKG), PBI-JK health insurance, as well as connections to the Red and White Cooperative and the 3 Million Houses Programme.

Based on data from the Ministry of Social Affairs, 166 pilot People’s Schools sites have been operational in 38 provinces since July 2025. These facilities accommodate 15,900 students from primary to high school levels, supported by thousands of educators.

In the Jakarta and surrounding areas, the Ministry of Social Affairs recently announced the addition of 10 pilot People’s Schools sites dedicated to accommodating neglected children, street children, and those at risk of dropping out of school.

Ahmad Dhani’s presence at the Ministry of Social Affairs office was also to exchange greetings and invite Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf to attend his son El Rumi’s wedding to Syifa Hadju, scheduled for Sunday (26/4) in Jakarta.
