Prosecutor (JPU) Wira Arizona from the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office denied intimidating Amsal Sitepu during the trial process in the alleged mark-up case for producing village profile video series in the region.

The statement was delivered by Wira during a public hearing (RDPU) at Commission III of the DPR on Thursday (2/4). The meeting was also attended by Amsal, the defendant in the case, who has now been acquitted.

“Ready, that didn’t happen, sir, I convey to you, sir,” said Wira during the meeting.

The alleged intimidation was previously raised by Amsal while he was detained at Tanjung Gusta Prison in Medan, North Sumatra. On 1 December 2025, Amsal claimed he was asked to stay silent and follow the entire judicial process.

“I must report to the leadership. In the legal process I am undergoing, I have experienced intimidation directly from the prosecutor,” said Amsal, sobbing during the previous meeting at Commission III of the DPR.

He recounted that the alleged intimidation was received through brownies given by the prosecutor at Tanjung Gusta Prison in Medan. When giving the brownies, according to Amsal, the prosecutor asked him to follow the entire trial process and not to make a fuss.

“He spoke directly to me in this prison, ‘just follow the flow. No need to make a fuss. Close those contents. Someone is disturbed’,” said Amsal.

Amsal has now been acquitted in the case. The Medan District Court panel of judges, on Wednesday (1/4), declared Amsal not proven guilty of marking up the production of village profile videos in Karo Regency for the 2020-2022 Fiscal Year by Rp202,161,980.

“Ruling, stating that the defendant Amsal is not legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the act as charged primarily and subsidiarily by the public prosecutor,” said the panel of judges chaired by Mohammad Yusafrihardi Girsang.
