DPR Legislator: Government Not Anti-Criticism on Free Nutritious Meals Programme

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Moreno Soeprapto, has asserted that the government is not anti-criticism regarding the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme raised by the public.

Moreno explained that the government is actually continuing to accommodate and address all criticisms by improving the institutional governance of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the implementation process on the ground.

“The government is conducting evaluations, which is a good thing, and the evidence is that actions were taken yesterday. The government is not anti to criticism from the community,” said Moreno, as reported by ANTARA on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

He noted that criticism is natural, but its delivery should not involve spreading hatred that could impact national unity. The public is invited to assist the DPR RI and the government in collectively monitoring the sustainability of this strategic programme to ensure its implementation improves in the future.

“We are aiming towards Golden Indonesia, so it is necessary to prepare the next generation. If we have already been taught to insult and accustomed to hating, that is certainly not good,” Moreno stated.

Furthermore, Moreno said that overall, the implementation of the MBG programme has a good concept. In addition to meeting the nutritional needs of children, the programme also provides an impact on the local economic circulation.

He shared that based on his experiences visiting Malang City, Batu City, and Malang Regency, both livestock farmers and agricultural farmers have responded positively to the MBG programme. “They are gaining market demand from it, which can increase their income,” he added.
