DPR Legislation Body Agrees to Extend Implementation of Aceh's Special Autonomy Funds
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives’ Legislation Body (Baleg) has agreed to extend the implementation of special autonomy funds (otsus) for the Aceh Provincial Government in drafting the Bill on Amendments to Law No. 11 of 2006 on Aceh Governance. Deputy Chairman of Baleg DPR RI Ahmad Doli Kurnia stated that the provision of these special autonomy funds has been ongoing for 20 years and is due to end in 2027. According to him, the agreement was reached during discussions in Baleg DPR RI. “We have agreed to extend the special status of Aceh’s governance, which also includes extending the special autonomy funds,” Doli said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday. With this agreement, he added, Baleg DPR RI now needs to discuss the amount of the otsus funds and other matters. Additionally, he noted that the drafting of the Aceh Governance Bill also relates to the management of natural resources, including minerals, energy, forestry, and others. According to him, there are several proposals from the Aceh Government regarding extending maritime boundaries and the division of authorities between regional and central governments. On this matter, Baleg DPR RI has discussed with several ministries and agencies overseeing maritime affairs, forestry, and energy. “We have asked each ministry to provide evaluation results and notes on the implementation of Law No. 11 of 2006 so far, which will then be projected into the discussion of the new law,” he said.
