Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that his party, together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), discussed improvements to stock exchange governance during a meeting at the DPR Building on Thursday. “We have just completed coordination and a lengthy discussion on how the new OJK and the new IDX board can improve stock exchange governance for a better future,” Dasco said during a press conference following the meeting. The meeting was attended by OJK Chairperson Friderica Widyasari Dewi and IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik along with their staff. From the DPR side, Deputy Speakers Sari Yuliati and Saan Mustopa, as well as Chair of Commission XI Mukhamad Misbakhun, were present. Dasco said his party advised the OJK to ensure better supervision of stock exchange governance going forward. “We have reached common ground on several agreements, certainly for better stock exchange governance,” he stated. Meanwhile, Friderica said her party asked the IDX, particularly the new board of directors, to give their best for the future development of the exchange. “We expect and ask them to commit to giving their best for the future development of the stock exchange, prioritising governance, and continuing the integrity reform in the capital market,” she said. She stressed that governance integrity must be prioritised. “So that it becomes an increasingly advanced and growing capital market, and can further support Indonesia’s economic growth,” she stated. Jeffrey said the IDX board of directors for the 2026–2030 period will continue the capital market reforms already underway. He also affirmed the commitment to continuously improve transparency and governance integrity. “As well as continuing to deepen the market, both from the demand and supply sides, so that in the future the IDX’s potential to become a world-class exchange on par with the world’s major exchanges can be realised soon,” he added.
