DPR Leadership Meets with Student Protesters to Hear Aspirations

The leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) held an audience with student demonstrators at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday afternoon, 19 June 2026. The meeting was led by Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Saan Mustopa, accompanied by leaders of Commission III, including Habiburokhman and Rano Alfath. Representatives from the student executive bodies (BEM) of Trisakti University, Esa Unggul University, and Mercu Buana University, along with the PB HMI MPO, entered the Abdul Muis Room at around 17:47 WIB to present their aspirations directly.

The Trisakti University contingent carried the ‘Tritura’ (Three People’s Demands) banner, calling for economic and political recovery and the restoration of civilian supremacy. Meanwhile, PB HMI MPO presented five demands: evaluating the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) programmes for effectiveness and transparency; rejecting state budget wastefulness and urging more efficient, people-oriented financial management; improving the welfare of honorary teachers through guaranteed status and rights protection; stabilising fuel prices to preserve public purchasing power; and enforcing civilian supremacy as a fundamental principle of democracy and the rule of law.
