DPR: KTP Processing Used to Be Complicated, Now It Takes Minutes
The rebranding of population and civil registration services in Brebes Regency, Central Java, is aimed at bringing services closer to the public. The move also seeks to strengthen the accuracy of data on social assistance recipients. The rebranding activity was held at the Muhammadiyah Larangan Junior High School hall recently. It is part of efforts to strengthen proactive outreach services and the digital use of population data.
Member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Wahyudin Noor Aly, appreciated the proactive outreach service. According to him, data issues remain a challenge in various government services, including elections and the distribution of social assistance. “Every election we always debate the number of voters. Likewise with social assistance, many who should receive it are not registered, while those who are not entitled are on the list,” Wahyudin said in Jakarta on Wednesday (19/8/2026).
Wahyudin said that population administration services are now increasingly easy, fast, and free. He assessed that digital transformation needs to continue to be strengthened to build a more orderly and integrated population database. “In the past, processing a KTP was complicated; now it is free and even earlier it was done in just a few minutes. This digitalisation programme is very important because it makes things easier for the public,” said the member of the National Mandate Party faction in the DPR. Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, according to Wahyudin, is also pushing for the realisation of a single identity number.
