DPR Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency Supports Indonesian Citizens' Participation in Mission to Breach Gaza Blockade
The Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the House of Representatives (DPR) supports the participation of Indonesian citizens in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian sailing mission to breach the Gaza blockade in Palestine. BKSAP Chairman Syahrul Aidi Maazat stated that Indonesia’s representation (GPCI) in this international humanitarian voyage is one form of consistency by Indonesian society in the struggle to help end the occupation in Palestine.
“Congratulations on the struggle to the friends participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla activities. May Allah strengthen and protect everyone, and may our goals be achieved, ultimately leading to an independent Palestine,” said Syahrul in a video press release received by Republika in Jakarta on Monday (13/4/2026).
GPCI is once again participating in the grand Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 sailing mission to breach the Gaza blockade. Six GPCI delegates are already in Barcelona, Spain, to take part in the departure ceremony for the humanitarian ships.
On Sunday (12/4/2026), two Indonesian delegates, namely Maimon Herawati, Coordinator of the GPCI Advisory Board, and Chiki Fawzi, a GPCI volunteer and influencer, joined the sailing. Meanwhile, Muhammad Husein, Syaafawi, and Sugandhi, also part of GPCI from Spain, flew to Libya for a land convoy to breach the Gaza blockade via Egypt.
This year’s Global Sumud Flotilla mission is being conducted via the Mediterranean Sea route and the Libya-Egypt land route. It is estimated that more than a thousand volunteers and activists from at least 100 countries are participating in this humanitarian mission. From the sea route, it is estimated that more than 100 ships will sail to breach the Gaza blockade from European countries.
GPCI will send follow-up delegates to European countries to join the sailing from subsequent stages. Maimon stated that the Indonesian government in Jakarta should provide support, approval, and protection for Indonesian citizens in this year’s Global Sumud Flotilla sailing and land convoy mission.
Protection for these citizens is important, considering that previous Global Sumud Flotilla sailing missions have ended in kidnappings and arrests by Zionist Israeli occupation soldiers. Land convoy participants have also frequently faced intimidation and the risk of deportation by the countries they pass through during the convoy.
In fact, the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission is merely a civil movement from around the world to deliver medicines, food, clean water, baby supplies, and women’s needs to Gaza, which remains under occupation and blockade by Zionist Israel.
