DPR Insists BGN Leadership Change Must Be a Moment for Comprehensive Evaluation
Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Charles Honoris, has responded after a number of partners from the SPPG (General Treasurer and Budget System) descended on the office of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) demanding clarity. He acknowledged the various public concerns regarding the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, particularly after former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana was named a suspect in a suspected corruption case. According to the PDIP politician, the government must view this action as serious input for the MBG programme. ‘One of the main points raised by the demonstrators is the need to improve governance and audit the programme’s implementation,’ Charles told tvOnenews.com on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. ‘In my view, the demand for strengthened governance is reasonable and not excessive,’ he continued. He stated that the change in the leadership structure at BGN must become a momentum for an overall evaluation. In particular, this concerns transparency, accountability, the procurement of goods and services, and the internal oversight system. ‘The public has the right to know how the very large budget in this programme is managed,’ Charles explained. He further urged the government to disclose the budget usage to the public. ‘Public trust can only be restored if BGN demonstrates a real commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance,’ he said.
