Dewi Yustisiana, a member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the Golkar Party, has encouraged MIND ID and all holding company members to continuously improve their performance. This step is vital to ensure they develop into leading mining companies in their respective fields, while ensuring that the management of national strategic commodities provides maximum added value for the country and the community.

“The companies within the MIND ID Group manage highly strategic commodities. We hope that each company can become the best in its respective field, possess global competitiveness, and serve as the primary driver of Indonesia’s natural resource downstreaming,” said Dewi on Wednesday (16/9).

According to Dewi, performance improvement should not be measured solely by revenue and profit. Performance evaluation must also encompass aspects of productivity, operational efficiency, state revenue, occupational safety, environmental protection, governance, and the ability to produce value-added products.

To achieve this, every company under the holding’s umbrella must have clear and measurable targets. This must be accompanied by strengthened synergy within the MIND ID Group, ranging from exploration, production, processing, and refining to marketing and the development of the national industrial supply chain.

Furthermore, Dewi emphasised that the downstreaming programme must not stop at the construction of physical facilities. Mastery of technology and the enhancement of local workforce capacity are inseparable components.

“Downstreaming is not just about building smelters or processing facilities, but must also be accompanied by technological mastery and the improvement of workforce capabilities. Therefore, MIND ID needs to strengthen education and training, competency certification, the regeneration of experts, research and innovation, cooperation with universities, and integrated talent development,” she explained.

She asserted that the transformation of the modern mining industry requires a workforce that is adaptive to contemporary developments. Required qualifications include mastery of mineral processing technology, digitalisation, automation, mining safety, environmental management, and modern industrial management.

“With competent, professional, and technologically proficient human resources, MIND ID Group companies can improve performance, strengthen downstreaming, create quality jobs, and establish Indonesia as one of the world’s major mineral industry powers,” Dewi concluded.
