DPR Hopes Prabowo Announces Teacher Salary Increase at MPR Annual Session

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to deliver the state address and financial note at the MPR Annual Session on Friday, 14 August 2026. Deputy Chairman of House Commission X, Lalu Hadrian Irfan, expressed hope that the president will use the occasion to announce a salary and allowance increase for teachers. “Hopefully tomorrow, the President will firmly state in his financial note that the government will raise teachers’ salaries and allowances,” Lalu told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 13 August 2026. He did not specify the amount of the increase, explaining that the figure would be discussed and adjusted according to the country’s current fiscal condition. Lalu noted that the government had previously raised the salaries and allowances of judges and military personnel, and urged that teachers’ welfare now be given the same attention. He also expressed hope that the financial note would accommodate various educational needs. MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani confirmed that the Annual Session and Joint Session of the MPR, DPR, and DPD would be held on Friday, 14 August 2026, from morning until noon. During the session, President Prabowo will deliver a state address and report on the performance of state institutions. Muzani added that former presidents and vice presidents, ministers, ambassadors from friendly nations, and political party leaders would be invited to attend.
