The leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a coordination meeting with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) at the Nusantara II Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, 29 June 2026. The meeting was led directly by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Representing BGN were its Head, Nanik S Deyang, Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari, and retired Major General Trenggono. Various matters were discussed, particularly regarding the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme and its health objectives. ‘In the coordination meeting, BGN conveyed many points regarding the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, which aims to improve health by preventing malnutrition, enhancing growth and development, and reducing stunting rates,’ said Dasco, as quoted from a post on his Instagram account @sufmi_dasco on Tuesday, 30 June 2026. In the educational aspect, MBG aims to ensure children learn on a full stomach with fulfilled nutritional needs, enabling them to be more focused and achieve better results at school. ‘To drive the economy, it empowers MSMEs, farmers, livestock breeders, and local fishermen as providers of food raw materials,’ he stated. Dasco further emphasised that the DPR will continue to supervise the programme to ensure it runs well. ‘In principle, the DPR RI, in accordance with its duties and functions, will continue to supervise and provide assistance so that this pro-people programme can run well and be beneficial for the community and the people of Indonesia,’ Dasco concluded.
