A member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), TB Hasanuddin, has highlighted the case of the death of Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) member, Sergeant Ahmad Muzammil Farisa, who allegedly suffered physical abuse.

The act of violence was allegedly carried out by four other Air Force members at the Galaksi Psychology Mess, within the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base complex, East Jakarta.

Regarding the incident, TB Hasanuddin expressed his deep concern. He stated that all forms of violence related to seniority within the TNI environment must be stopped.

“The bad tradition of violent acts carried out by seniors, commanders, superiors, or senior superiors within the TNI environment must be eliminated immediately,” said TB Hasanuddin in a statement on Saturday, 12 September 2026.

He noted that TNI soldiers are prepared to carry out defence duties and face various situations in the field. Therefore, in addition to the ability to follow commands and orders, soldiers require strong cooperation and cohesion.

“As soldiers, individuals are prepared for combat. Therefore, what is needed is not just the ability to execute commands and orders, but also good cooperation between soldiers,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of building healthy and respectful relationships among soldiers. According to him, an atmosphere filled with tension can potentially trigger violent acts that lead to fatal incidents.

“In the field, familiarity and good relationships with one another are required, not tension that can trigger violent acts, such as beatings that result in death,” explained TB Hasanuddin.

It was previously reported that an Air Force soldier in Magetan, East Java, named Sergeant Ahmad Muzammul Farisa (AMF), was found dead under unnatural circumstances on Thursday, 10 September 2026. Sergeant AMF died due to alleged violence from his seniors.

Currently, the Indonesian Air Force Military Police (Pomau) is investigating the case. Pomau will also investigate and uncover the facts regarding the alleged violence experienced by Sergeant AMF.
