DPR Hajj Oversight Team Urges the Ministry of Religious Affairs to Anticipate Potential Hazards at Armuzna

Tim Hajj Oversight Team (Timwas Haji) of the Indonesian DPR RI 2026 has reminded the Ministry of Religious Affairs to anticipate potential hazards and disorder during the peak phase of the Hajj pilgrimage at Armuzna (Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina). They have asked all regional Hajj officers and the Ministry of Religious Affairs to strengthen coordination from the outset of the pilgrims’ movement. According to Timwas Haji DPR member Singgih Januratmoko, the Armuzna phase is the heaviest point in organising the Hajj. Millions of pilgrims from various countries gather at the site and time at once. Temperatures at the location can reach more than 40 degrees Celsius. “The Armuzna situation is not easy. It might reveal the ego of our team members; there might be disagreements and competition for space in the maktab,” Singgih said. To anticipate these potential hazards, he believes the Ketua Kloter (Group Leader) plays a vital role. They must regulate the pace of the pilgrims’ movements. On the other hand, they must also ensure that services run optimally on the ground. Therefore, he urged the group leaders to be proactive and communicative with the Indonesian Hajj Mission (PPIH) and the service-providing companies. “The Ketua Kloter is the spearhead in orchestrating the pilgrims’ comfort during Armuzna,” the Golkar party MP said. Singgih also stressed the importance of technical details that must be confirmed before the movement of pilgrims. From the number of buses, maximum vehicle capacity, elder-friendly access, to the certainty of maktab placements for pilgrims in Arafah. “What time will the pilgrims be taken to Arafah, how many buses will be used, are the buses elder-friendly—all of this must be coordinated,” he asserted. In addition, he asked the officers to prepare escort patterns during the mabit phase in Muzdalifah and the jumrah rites in Mina, including mapping the Nafar Awal and Nafar Tsani pilgrims to prevent overcrowding. At the end of his remarks, Singgih urged all officers to maintain health and strengthen team cohesion in order to provide the best service to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. “Stay healthy, stay enthusiastic, perform your duties with all your heart, and return home to the homeland healthy and safe,” he said.
