DPR Hajj Oversight Team States Provision of Hajj Accommodation Makes History
The 2026 DPR Hajj Oversight Team has stated that the provision of Hajj accommodation this year marks a new historical milestone. This sentiment was expressed by the Chairman of the DPR Hajj Oversight Team, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal, following a series of supervisory inspections conducted within the Medina working area.
Based on the results of the evaluation and supervision, the team found that the services provided by the government to the 103,732 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims were highly satisfactory. Cucun noted that this success is inseparable from several breakthroughs implemented by the government.
“This includes the new accommodation arrangements, which are historic for our Republic; regular pilgrims were able to stay in five-star hotels in the Markaziyah area, surrounding the Prophet’s Mosque. These included Dar Al Iman InterContinental, Millennium Al Aqeeq, Hilton Madinah, Dar Al Taqwa, Sofitel, Millennium Taiba, and InterContinental Dar Al Hijra. These facilities, which are typically reserved for ‘plus’ pilgrims or PIHK (Special Hajj Organisers), were made available to regular pilgrims,” he stated during a press conference on Monday.
In addition to accommodation, the DPR Hajj Oversight Team also commended the healthcare services provided to pilgrims. Appreciation was specifically given regarding the decrease in the number of pilgrim deaths. Cucun stated that this decline is due to the strict handling and screening processes implemented by Hajj officials and the government from the moment of departure.
“Pilgrims are not sent abroad indiscriminately. It is recorded here that only 15 people passed away. Furthermore, for those who were truly high-risk and physically unable to perform the Hajj rituals, such as those requiring ‘safari wukuf’ or ‘badal’ (proxy services), the number was reduced to just 13 people,” he added.
