DPR Hajj Oversight Team Listens to Hajj Pilgrims and Officials' Aspirations
Jakarta - DPR Hajj Oversight Team chairman Hidayat Nur Wahid conducted several visits to meet Hajj pilgrims and officials ahead of the peak Hajj period in Armuzna (Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina) to gather feedback and findings on Hajj arrangements for advocacy. The oversight visits began upon arrival in Mecca on Thursday, 21 May 2026, with visits to several flight groups (kloter) from Jakarta. ‘Alhamdulillah, I could meet with Hajj pilgrims and religious leaders guiding the South Jakarta pilgrims,’ Hidayat said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday. Among the kloter visited was Jakarta’s Kloter 2, based in Sector 7 of Misfalah, Mecca. There, Hidayat met and engaged with hundreds of pilgrims and kloter leaders, including listening to feedback and suggestions from ulama who are also pilgrims from Kloter 02, such as Kyai Haji Lutfi Zawawi (Chairman of the Ulama and Habib Forum/FUHAB) and Kyai Haji A Nawawi Halim (Chairman of South Jakarta’s MUI). In addition to gathering feedback and issues to relay to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Hidayat also provided guidance to help pilgrims maximise their time in Mecca for worship and preparation—physically, in Hajj knowledge, and mentally strong—ahead of the Armuzna peak. Hidayat also prayed for pilgrims’ ease and health, a maqbul and mabrur Hajj, and for Indonesia, Gaza, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Palestine. ‘May all pilgrims be granted health and ease ahead of the Armuzna peak. After waiting over a decade to be in Mecca, it is vital to make the most of this opportunity to achieve a maqbul Hajj, accepted sa’i, and answered prayers, which they can carry home,’ he said. Hidayat, alongside South Jakarta MUI Secretary General Kyai Haji Yasdar based in Misfalah, Mecca, met the family of the deceased to deliver condolences and assistance. ‘We pray the deceased is granted husnul khatimah, forgiven of sins, accepted in their Hajj deeds and intentions, and placed in the best position with Allah,’ he said. During the visit to Kloter 27 JKG from South Jakarta, Hidayat met Ustadzah Bahijah, who serves as a worship guide for pilgrims, along with the kloter leader, health officers, and Hajj officials. During the meeting, they raised several suggestions for improving future Hajj arrangements, including issues with accommodation facilities such as elevators, washing machines, toilets, and ablution areas. Hidayat immediately relayed these notes to hotel management after meeting with leaders, Hajj officials, and pilgrims. To all parties met in Mecca, Hidayat assured Hajj pilgrims would receive the best services as agreed in the working meeting between DPR Commission VIII and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, covering accommodation, transport, and catering. In addition to meeting and assessing pilgrims, Hidayat also met Saudi Arabia’s Hajj Service Personnel (PPIH) to hear feedback and suggestions for improving current and future Hajj arrangements. He also offered support and motivation to PPIH ahead of the 2026 Hajj peak period. He noted that PPIH’s duties during the Armuzna phase are demanding, requiring physical and mental readiness to provide the best service to Indonesian pilgrims amidst millions from various countries in a relatively confined area. ‘I commend the hard work of Indonesian Hajj officials striving to provide the best service to pilgrims, especially ahead of the peak phase,’ Hidayat said.
