The DPR Hajj Oversight Team is still finding problems related to health services for pilgrims.

The head of the DPR Hajj Oversight Team, Cucun Ahmad Samsurijal, said that the government this year is still operating satellite health service posts at each pilgrim’s lodging.

The satellites can be visited by pilgrims when facing health emergencies before they are transferred to the Indonesian Hajj Health Office in Aziziyah.

Health services for Indonesian pilgrims have also been partnered with private hospitals in Saudi Arabia.

“However, we are still facing difficulties regarding the availability of medicines and their distribution to each sector, and distribution to each satellite that exists. Because at the satellites we also employ doctors assigned to cohorts from their regions,” he said in Mecca.

Cucun said these issues would be a note for the Hajj Oversight Team.

“This is a note; as of now it will be handed over next year to the Head of the Hajj Health Centre at the Ministry of Hajj. We want health services and medicine availability to be truly maximal,” he said.

Nevertheless, Cucun said the handling and delivery of Hajj health services this year had shown improvements.

This is partly supported by the dedication of health staff in serving sick pilgrims.

The service, he said, is provided 24 hours a day.

Besides the dedication of health staff, the relatively few health disturbances among pilgrims also indicate the quality of Hajj health services.

“It is also supported by pilgrims’ awareness to continuously check themselves, monitor their blood pressure, and the daily health conditions at these satellites and the health service centres in each sector continue to operate,” he said.
