The DPR Hajj Oversight Team, alongside the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah officials, conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the 2026 Hajj arrangements at AlQim’ma Hall in Makkah on Sunday, 24 May 2026. During the session, the DPR Oversight Team highlighted several positive achievements and areas requiring improvement ahead of the peak Hajj phase.

DPR Hajj Oversight Team Chair Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal stated that Hajj oversight is divided into two phases. The first phase in Medina has been officially concluded with high praise from parliament.

‘The Medina phase has closed, and we commend the exceptional Hajj management. This is the Ministry of Hajj’s first-time organisation of the pilgrimage this year, and we greatly appreciate it,’ said Cucun.

Entering the Makkah oversight phase, the DPR Oversight Team noted several critical issues, particularly regarding facility standards and hotel distances for pilgrims. Cucun emphasised that all feedback would serve as key references for improvements in the next Hajj season.

Regarding preparations for the peak Hajj phase in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna), the Oversight Team noted significant improvements in management, particularly in addressing service providers that previously manipulated tent capacities. ‘Previously, tent owners would claim a capacity of 100 when it was actually 50. Now, checks are conducted rigorously,’ Cucun said.

The DPR Oversight Team commended officials for their diligence in inspecting Armuzna facilities in detail, including checking mattresses individually. Going forward, the DPR is committed to recalculating Hajj service costs to ensure annual improvements in service quality.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Muhammad Irfan Yusuf thanked the DPR for its collaborative and ongoing oversight from embarkation preparations to operations in the Holy Land.

‘Alhamdulillah, up to today, departures, embarkation preparations, Medina activities, and Makkah operations have proceeded as expected. Only the peak Hajj phase in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina remains,’ he said.

He welcomed all feedback and field findings from the DPR Oversight Team as vital tools for refining services. ‘I received numerous inputs from DPR colleagues today. This is part of our joint effort to enhance Hajj service quality,’ Irfan said.
