DPR Hajj Oversight Team and Ministry of Hajj Hold Meeting on Arafat, Mina and Muzdalifah Preparations
The DPR’s 2026 Hajj Oversight Team, along with the Ministry of Hajj, Hajj Financial Management Agency, Hajj Health Centre, and relevant stakeholders held a coordination meeting to discuss and finalise preparations for the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage, which is set to commence in two days.
Key issues were discussed in the meeting chaired by the Chairman of the DPR’s Hajj Oversight Team and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal.
The issues included Hajj accommodation, transportation services from hotels to the Arafat Plain and back, provision of meals for pilgrims, and healthcare services.
Regarding these issues, Minister of Hajj Muhamad Irfan Yusuf stated that preparations for the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage by his ministry and other stakeholders have reached nearly 100 per cent.
For transportation alone, the ministry has deployed 2,000 buses to ferry pilgrims between hotels and the Arafat Plain.
Additionally, to prevent overcrowding, pilgrim movements have been divided into three shifts: first from 7am to 11am, second from 11.30am to 4pm, and third from 4.30pm to 9pm.
“To avoid inconveniencing pilgrims with long waits, the schedule has been implemented as some pilgrims have reported leaving their rooms at dawn only to depart at night. Therefore, only those ready to depart should descend, while others should rest in their rooms,” he said after the meeting.
Regarding meal provisions, Irfan said approximately three million ready-to-eat meals will be provided for pilgrims both before and during their time at Arafat.
As for healthcare services, Irfan added that 1,000 medical staff will be on standby to assist sick pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Cucun welcomed the preparations carried out by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and other stakeholders.
He stated that although this is the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s first time organising the Hajj, no significant issues have been identified so far.
Minor issues include the distance of hotels from the Grand Mosque (Masjidil Haram) and some hotel facility problems.
“We appreciate the remarkable Hajj organisation. This is the Ministry of Hajj’s first time overseeing the Hajj in 2026,” he said.
Cucun expressed hope that all preparations would ensure the Hajj peak at Arafat, which often involves unpredictable events, proceeds smoothly.
