DPR Hajj Oversight Chief: Hajj Services Make History
Chairman of the DPR’s Hajj Oversight Team and Deputy Speaker of the House Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal praised the government’s Hajj service arrangements for pilgrims in 2026. He noted that the DPR’s Hajj Oversight Team’s monitoring this year has recorded historic improvements in pilgrim services. Cucun stated that the government’s historic service improvements followed President Prabowo Subianto’s establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The DPR’s Oversight Team has observed that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, along with all Hajj officials, have successfully managed the 2026 Hajj operations, from departure from Indonesia, services in Medina, services in Mecca, and the journey to Arafah, all flawlessly. Significant improvements have been made compared to previous years’ Hajj services. He added that any issues encountered were effectively mitigated, preventing major disruptions. ‘Following the enactment of Law No. 14 of 2025, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah began lengthy preparations and transformed from the previous ministry structure. Alhamdulillah, the results are now evident, with the transformative leaps being felt by Muslims performing the wukuf in Arafah,’ he said during the wukuf at Arafat Plain on Tuesday (26/5). He expressed gratitude that Indonesian pilgrims could be present in Arafah and perform Hajj smoothly thanks to these improvements. Despite the success, Cucun stated that efforts would not cease. The DPR will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to enhance and perfect services for Indonesian pilgrims, ensuring a more comfortable worship experience in the future. This collaboration will begin with discussions on determining Hajj service costs. ‘Other components requiring upgrades and improvements are also being addressed; alhamdulillah, the public, particularly our pilgrims, are already noticing these incremental enhancements,’ he added.
