Bandung (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives’ Ethics Council (MKD DPR) is strengthening coordination with the Bandung Resort Police (Polresta Bandung) regarding law enforcement and the ethical oversight of DPR members, focusing on understanding immunity rights and the application of restorative justice within the implementation of the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

Deputy Chairman of the MKD DPR, I Wayan Sudirta, stated in Bandung Regency on Wednesday that inter-agency coordination is necessary to ensure the handling of alleged ethical violations by DPR members proceeds according to established mechanisms and statutory regulations.

“Coordination is important to encourage that every alleged ethical violation is reported through the designated mechanism so it can be processed professionally and accountably,” he said.

According to him, the MKD DPR has to date received 77 public complaints regarding alleged ethical violations by DPR members, which are being processed according to applicable mechanisms and provisions. He also stressed the importance of understanding the implementation of DPR members’ immunity rights in accordance with statutory regulations.

He added that the implementation of the new KUHAP must be accompanied by optimising case resolution through a restorative justice approach while upholding human rights principles. “Law enforcement must not only provide legal certainty but must also deliver a sense of justice for the community,” he said.

He further emphasised the importance of maintaining synergy between the National Police and the Prosecutor’s Office so that law enforcement can run more effectively and provide legal certainty and a sense of justice for the public.

Meanwhile, Bandung Police Chief, Commissioner Aldi Subartono, said the MKD DPR’s visit was a momentum to strengthen inter-agency collaboration to realise professional, transparent, and just law enforcement. “This working visit is an honour as well as an important momentum to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in realising professional, transparent, and just law enforcement,” he said.

He expressed hope that the working visit would further strengthen coordination and communication between the MKD DPR and the Bandung Resort Police in supporting law enforcement, ethical oversight, and public service.
