A number of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representative Council (DPD) have formed the World Peace Parliamentary Caucus in response to the current geopolitical situation. They hope that the movement can stop the war occurring between the US-Israel and Iran and the Gulf states.

Present at the declaration of the World Peace Parliamentary Caucus were Deputy Chairman of the DPR Legislation Body Ahmad Doli Kurnia, Chairman of Commission VII of the DPR Saleh Partaonan Daulay, Chairman of the PKS Election Winning Body Mardani Ali Sera, PKB legislator Eva Monalisa, member of Commission II of the DPR Ahmad Irawan, and senator Muhammad Nuh.

“So we have gathered; actually, we have been building communication over the past week. There are about 30 fellow DPR and DPD members who have joined in one group that we call the World Peace Parliamentary Caucus,” said Doli at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026).

Doli stated that the Parliamentary Caucus is pushing for everlasting peace. His side highlighted the war in the Middle East that is expanding and having a significant impact on energy supplies, particularly fuel.

“And as a peace-loving country, we are already starting to feel the effects. And the impacts have reached the entire world, to all the world’s people. Yes, we are threatened with an energy crisis; we are threatened with an economic crisis. We know the situation in Indonesia is getting harder day by day,” said this Golkar legislator.

“Even physically, we have been directly affected; three Indonesian citizens who were part of TNI soldiers have fallen while carrying out the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon,” he added.

He mentioned that members of the Parliamentary Caucus will visit ambassadors of the relevant countries’ representatives in Indonesia. They will voice calls for the war to end immediately.

“The campaign for creating world peace, yes, one of the important agendas will be to visit the embassies of the countries involved. America, then Iran, perhaps the Gulf countries, and maybe other countries,” said Doli.
