Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, will hold a coordination meeting with entrepreneurs and relevant stakeholders to discuss the threat of mass layoffs (PHK) affecting workers. The meeting is scheduled for this Friday.

“We will soon, God willing on Friday, hold a coordination meeting with the stakeholders, including the PHK mitigation task force formed by the government to handle such matters,” Dasco told reporters at the Acacia Hotel in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

In addition to the coordination meeting, Dasco will meet with Pertamina CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri tomorrow to discuss the threat of layoffs impacting 55,000 workers in Bekasi due to rising gas prices. “After making contact, I have also arranged to meet with representatives from the affected labour unions, and then to meet with Pertamina’s CEO,” Dasco said. “Perhaps tomorrow, to discuss solutions for the companies that could potentially impact 55,000 employees.”

Dasco had previously received reports about the layoff threats during the National Working Meeting of the Indonesian Workers Union Confederation (KSPI) 2026. During the event, he directly telephoned Pertamina CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri to convey the urgency of the issue. In the phone call, Dasco stated that his prepared speech was disrupted by the pressing question of industrial gas prices and asked if there was a solution. Mantiri responded that Pertamina would coordinate with PGN and was committed to making adjustments, particularly regarding LNG molecule pricing, to support the industry with appropriate prices.

Dasco explained to Mantiri that the threat of mass layoffs was imminent and requested a joint meeting to find a mitigation solution. “So, in the last few days, there has been a threat of layoffs. We need to find a way out or mitigate the layoffs that threaten around 55,000 workers in these factories, which is very concerning,” Dasco said. “Perhaps we can sit down within a day or two with representatives from the labour unions to find a solution.” Mantiri agreed to the proposed meeting.
