Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal stated that the government is currently synchronising data on teacher requirements. This is to determine the data on teacher needs as a basis for preparing the Macroeconomic Policy and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 State Budget. Cucun made the statement after opening a meeting with the National Teachers and Education Personnel (GTKN) and the government at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk. “The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is currently calculating this with the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, in synergy with the Ministry of Home Affairs, which understands the regional mapping of teacher needs, including headmaster vacancies,” said Cucun. Cucun explained that the government is in the process of merging schools, especially existing primary schools. The exact number of teachers required if school mergers occur is also being simulated. “The number of teachers needed is being adjusted, and the schools are being thoroughly inventoried. Currently, many schools in the regions will be assessed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to determine how many of the hundreds of thousands of schools can be merged,” he said. “We are continuing to simulate this, and the DPR is overseeing the process. Because if a decision is to be made in 2027, it must be prepared in the KEM-PPKF now,” he added. Furthermore, Cucun also requested that the appointment status of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) teachers be confirmed promptly. Cucun reminded that this should not take longer than September. “Do not let their status be unclear after September. This needs clarity; regarding PPPK, there are two types, full-time and part-time,” he revealed.
