DPR Deputy Speaker Appreciates Prabowo's Launch of National Electric Motorcycle
Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sari Yuliati has expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s official launch of a national electric motorcycle. In her view, the policy represents a strategic step in strengthening industrial self-reliance while realising President Prabowo’s vision of bringing Indonesia to become a strong and economically sovereign nation.
“The launch of the national electric motorcycle is a very positive step. This is not merely about introducing electric vehicles, but about how Indonesia builds its own industrial capability, masters technology, creates employment, and generates added value domestically,” said Sari Yuliati in Jakarta, as quoted on Friday, 14 August 2026.
Sari considers the concept of self-reliance to be one of the important foundations of President Prabowo’s development vision. Indonesia, according to her, must be able to harness its wealth of natural resources and the capacity of its national human resources to build industries with high competitiveness.
“President Prabowo has a clear vision that Indonesia must not forever depend on other countries. We must be able to stand on our own feet. The national electric motorcycle can serve as a concrete example of how national resources, technology, industry and markets can be developed into Indonesia’s economic strength,” she said.
She also assessed that the development of electric vehicles holds strategic value because it relates to the future of energy and industrial transformation. Indonesia possesses substantial capital in the form of mineral resources that can become an important part of the electric vehicle industry chain, including the battery industry.
“What we are pushing for is not merely vehicle production, but the development of a national electric vehicle ecosystem. From research, technology, components, batteries, manufacturing, to supporting infrastructure, it must become increasingly robust and provide ample space for national industry,” Sari explained.
According to Sari, the DPR RI will continue to provide support for government policies aimed at strengthening national industry, while ensuring that such policies deliver tangible benefits to the public.
She expressed hope that the national electric motorcycle can continue to be developed with attention to quality, affordable pricing, domestic content levels, technological innovation and industrial sustainability.
“Do not stop at the launch. This must be the beginning of a long journey towards self-reliance in the automotive and energy industries. The government needs to maintain policy consistency so that national industry has the certainty to grow and compete,” she asserted.
