DPR Deputy Speaker Appreciates Improvements in Hajj Services as First Batch Departs
Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, released the departure of the first batch of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims for 1447 Hijriah at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Wednesday, 22 April 2026. During the release ceremony, Dasco stated that this year’s Hajj organisation demonstrates several significant improvements compared to previous years. He assessed that various enhancements in services indicate the government’s seriousness in providing comfort and security for the pilgrims. “The state is present to guide and ensure that Hajj pilgrims receive optimal services, both before departure and during their time in the Holy Land,” Dasco said. The legislator from the Gerindra Party faction appreciated the readiness of Hajj officials who have been prepared to accompany the pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage. According to him, the presence of alert officials is an important factor in ensuring the smooth running of the entire Hajj series. In addition, Dasco highlighted improvements in facilities for pilgrims, including additional services and enhancements in the quality of consumption in the Holy Land. He mentioned that with better management, catering services for pilgrims are expected to improve compared to the previous year. “With the various improvements made, we hope the pilgrims can perform their worship more comfortably,” he added. Furthermore, another matter of attention is the distribution of Nusuk cards, which have now been given to pilgrims while still in Indonesia. This policy is seen as able to streamline the departure process and minimise administrative obstacles that often occurred previously. According to Dasco, this step also impacts the more orderly batch arrangement, so pilgrims can depart and worship in a more organised manner, including in family or group units. “This makes the departure more orderly and well-arranged, so pilgrims are not separated,” he explained. Furthermore, he expressed appreciation to all parties involved in the Hajj organisation, including relevant ministries and other supporting institutions that have worked hard to prepare the pilgrims’ departure. Dasco hopes that the entire Hajj series this year can run smoothly without significant obstacles. He also prayed for all Indonesian pilgrims to be granted health and safety while performing worship in the Holy Land. “We pray for all pilgrims to be able to perform their worship smoothly, return to the homeland safely, and become accepted Hajj pilgrims,” he concluded. With the various service improvements that have been implemented, the Indonesian House of Representatives is optimistic that this year’s Hajj organisation can provide a better pilgrimage experience for all Indonesian pilgrims.
