DPR Confident Authorities Will Act Professionally on Deaths of Two SPPI Participants
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chair of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Dave Laksono is confident that the relevant institutions will handle seriously and professionally the deaths of two participants of the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) programme who passed away during training. He stated this is an important step as a form of responsibility and to maintain public trust in strategic programmes run by the state, both in providing attention to the bereaved families and in conveying necessary information to the public. “At the same time, I invite all parties to prioritise empathy, caution, and a sense of responsibility in responding to this incident,” Dave said in Jakarta on Wednesday. He assessed that the two participants were part of a young generation who chose to take a role in supporting national development. Their participation, he said, reflects a spirit of dedication and commitment to contributing to the progress of society, particularly through strengthening the village economy as a foundation for sustainable development. According to him, the SPPI programme is one of the state’s efforts to prepare human resources with leadership capacity, discipline, integrity, and an orientation towards community service. He said the involvement of various state institutions in the programme demonstrates a shared commitment to forming development cadres capable of answering various challenges in the field. “Therefore, it is important to provide space for the ongoing process of tracing and deepening the facts so that every piece of information can be understood completely, objectively, and based on accountable data,” he said. On behalf of the leadership of Commission I of the DPR RI, he conveyed deep condolences for the passing of the two participants. The incident, he said, is a loss that should be a shared concern. “May the deceased find the best place with God Almighty and may the families left behind be given strength and fortitude in facing this tragedy,” he said. The Ministry of Defence confirmed the incident after news about the basic military training participants named Anisa Muyassaroh and Yonanda Muhammad Taufiq who died spread on social media on Monday (22/6). “The participant named Anisa Muyassaroh, who attended education at Satdik Dodikjur Rindam VI/Mulawarman Balikpapan, experienced health problems on 18 June 2026 and received medical treatment at the unit’s health facility before being referred to hospital,” said Head of the Defence Information Bureau of the Ministry of Defence Secretariat General, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, in a press statement given to ANTARA in Jakarta, Tuesday (24/6).
