DPR Commitment to Asset Forfeiture Bill Appreciated
The Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party for Public Policy, Idrus Marham, has highlighted the commitment of the House of Representatives (DPR) leadership, specifically Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, in responding to public aspirations regarding the discussion of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. Idrus considers the commitment to complete the Bill by 15 December 2026 at the latest to be an extraordinary step that deserves appreciation.
“The demonstration expressing aspirations on 27 August was a political event that should serve as an example for us,” Idrus said in Jakarta on Tuesday (1/9/2026).
Idrus also expressed appreciation to the DPR leadership, which he believes has opened space for the public to convey their aspirations directly within the parliamentary complex. He stated that Senayan has fulfilled its function as the ‘house of the people’.
“First, we offer positive appreciation to the DPR leadership. They have truly made Senayan a house for the people, a place where the people’s aspirations are channelled,” he said.
Furthermore, Idrus noted that the DPR leadership has demonstrated how to communicate with the public as their representatives. He remarked that the opened dialogue is a crucial element in responding to public aspirations.
Idrus also linked the discussion of the Asset Forfeiture Bill to efforts to eradicate corruption. He assessed that the DPR leadership’s steps align with the government’s vision for anti-corruption measures.
“Thirdly, regarding the vision of the President and all of us, how corruption eradication is carried out. One of the proposed instruments is the Asset Forfeiture Law. Conceptually, in terms of vision and ideology, the DPR leadership has implemented policies based on that,” he said.
According to Idrus, the public demand to accelerate the discussion of the Asset Forfeiture Bill and ensure certainty has received a response from the DPR leadership. He specifically praised the leadership under Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
“Therefore, the aspirations expressed by our colleagues for acceleration and certainty have been met. The DPR leadership under Professor Dasco deserves extraordinary appreciation. That is how true leadership should be,” stated Idrus.
Idrus noted that the DPR leadership’s commitment is an extraordinary step because it involves not only reputation but also position. He mentioned the guarantee that the Asset Forfeiture Bill must be completed by 15 December 2026 at the latest.
“They are not only risking their reputation but also their positions by providing this guarantee. If this is not completed by 15 December, they will resign,” he said.
Idrus described this commitment as spectacular progress. He believes the attitude of the DPR leadership should serve as a model for performing duties as representatives of the people.
“I believe this is extraordinary and a spectacular advancement. It serves as an exemplary model, an ‘uswatun hasanah’ (good example) that deserves our positive appreciation and full support,” he expressed.
Furthermore, Idrus described the political events of 27 August as a very important momentum. He stated that the DPR leadership’s response to public aspirations will be recorded as part of the national political journey.
“I believe the political event yesterday was legendary. It will be recorded that on the 27th, the DPR leadership under Professor Dasco led and received aspirations and provided an immediate response,” he said.
Idrus emphasised that the direct response of the DPR leadership to public aspirations deserves praise. He hopes the public can see proof of the DPR’s function as a representative institution.
“It was answered directly, and I think it is important to provide appreciation so the public knows that the DPR is capable of proving its function,” said Idrus.
However, Idrus warned that this attitude should not end with the momentum of the 27 August protest. He hopes that the positive response to public aspirations can be maintained for other issues concerning the interests of the nation.
“Now, this must be nurtured moving forward, so it is not just this instance, but other aspirations oriented towards national progress and national philosophy must also receive consistent treatment,” he said.
Idrus noted that such consistency is vital to maintaining public trust in the legislative institution. He hopes the DPR leadership’s attitude in accepting aspirations will remain consistent.
“We shall see how consistency is demonstrated in the future. That is all,” he concluded.
Four DPR Leaders Sign Statement
Previously, four leaders of the DPR signed a statement regarding the commitment to complete the Asset Forfeiture Bill by 15 December 2026 at the latest. The four leaders are DPR Deputy Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal, Saan Mustopa, and Sari Yuliati.
The statement was signed after they held an audience with members of the Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB) at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 27 August 2026. The audience took place during a DPR plenary session.
As a result of the audience, the DPR declared its commitment to completing the formation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill no later than 15 December 2026.
