DPR Commission XIII plans to visit the Class IIA Cibinong prison in West Java to follow up on findings by the Ombudsman regarding the existence of a luxury cluster within the facility.

The planned visit was confirmed directly by the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Dasco stated that Commission XIII is visiting Cibinong Prison to cross-reference data provided during previous meetings.

“DPR Commission XIII has held meetings with the Ministry of Immigration regarding the issues within the prison. We have received information that they wish to reconcile the data presented during the meetings with the actual facts on the ground,” Dasso said during a press conference at the DPR in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Dasco confirmed that the leadership of the DPR has approved the Commission XIII visit plan.

“The DPR leadership has granted approval for Commission XIII to visit Cibinong Prison to check the facts, the data, and matters that undermine the sense of justice in society,” he added.

Previously, DPR Commission XIII was set to personally inspect the conditions of the Class IIA Cibinong Prison following findings by the Indonesian Ombudsman. The visit is scheduled to take place this Wednesday.

“Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Chairperson of Commission XIII, along with all members of the Commission, will conduct a field inspection at 10:00 WIB,” said the Acting Director General of Correctional Services at the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, Mashudi, at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.
