DPR Commission XIII Strengthens Pancasila Volunteers in Cianjur
The Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) and Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) are strengthening the Pancasila Virtue Movement Volunteers in Cianjur Regency, West Java. Their presence is expected to further reinforce public understanding of the noble values of Pancasila.
Isfhan Taufik Munggaran, a member of Commission XIII of the DPR RI, said the formation of the Pancasila Virtue Movement Volunteers in Cianjur Regency coincided with the parliamentary recess period. The volunteers come from various ethnic groups, religious communities and school students.
“There are six religious groups, then eight ethnic groups, and also my younger schoolmates from SMAN 1 Cianjur. In the materials I presented, I emphasised that Pancasila must not merely become something memorised and recited. It must become a guide for everyday life,” said the legislator from the Golkar Party faction in Cianjur on Wednesday (29/7).
He assessed that the application of Pancasila values among the public has recently tended to decline. Therefore, it is important to revitalise the values of Pancasila as the nation’s philosophy.
“Many people shout about Pancasila, but the question is, why is its application in daily life starting to fade? First and foremost, we must be aware of ourselves, do good within our own families and relatives first, and only then cultivate Pancasila as a culture — it must not stop there,” Isfhan asserted.
MORALITY
Public discussion is currently focused on a civil servant (ASN) allegedly committing sexual harassment against a person of the same sex. Isfhan referred to this phenomenon as one form of the erosion of morality.
“Even God is no longer feared, let alone matters concerning fellow human beings. One’s relationship with God is neglected, let alone one’s relationship with other people. That is the corruption of morality and mentality,” he asserted.
Efforts to strengthen the ideology of Pancasila, democracy and human rights (HAM) form part of the Astacita of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The public must genuinely understand this in living their lives.
“So essentially, we must truly understand what the ideology of Pancasila, democracy and human rights mean so that we can live our lives accordingly,” he concluded.
